So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. - 2 Corinthians 12:7Father, help me from being conceited. I don't want to be prideful. Will you take away my pride. Even as I write this, will you remove pride that has been in my heart for a very very long time. Please work in my heart and help me to be humble.
I read this verse and am encouraged to see how God uses suffering for His good. I don't think we always are so aware why the suffering is surrounding us, but I am growing sure that all suffering is for God's glory. What a powerful God - the enemy can't even hurt us in our suffering.
Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” - 2 Corinthians 12:8-9My grace is sufficient in you. What does that even mean? Hmm. So God's grace is enough in Paul. There is enough grace in Paul. But why does Paul need grace when he's suffering? I'm not sure. Lord, will you reveal to me why we need grace when we're suffering. I would think faith would be more powerful.
What this Scripture does tell is that God is able to show His power when we are weak. That is when God is able to glorified more. Not when we are strong, but when we are weak. Again, I say wow! God works all things for His good.
Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. - 2 Corinthians 12:9Father, may I only boast of my weaknesses. Take away my pride. It's a daily desire to make myself look better than others. You have graciously revealed this sin. Help me to be like Christ. Remind me that when I am weak, the power of Your perfect son rests upon me. Rests upon me - what does that even mean?? Again I don't know what that feels like - can you show me what that feels like?
For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. - 2 Corinthians 12:10Help me to be content in my weaknesses. In all weaknesses, Lord. I am so weak without you. Thank you for showing me that. Remind me Lord that when I am made weak that you make me strong, through Your power. And give me faith when I'm weak to seek You, Lord.
I love You. Thank you for revealing new lessons in this Scripture. You are removing the veil.
